When the world came to a standstill during the COVID-19 lockdown, it also presented a unique opportunity \u2014 a time for reflection, skill acquisition, and preparation for the future of work. Recognizing this, the Association of Brothers Abroad Nobility (ABAN)<\/strong> took a bold step to empower its members by investing in their professional growth.<\/p>

We invited Lu Abikoye<\/strong>, a seasoned tech professional and career coach, to lead an enlightening session on “Building a Career in Tech and Leveraging Remote Job Opportunities.<\/strong>” The goal was simple but profound: to equip members with the knowledge and practical skills needed to transition into technology careers, especially at a time when remote work was becoming the new normal.<\/p>

A Vision Turned into Action: The 5-Day Intensive Web Design Training<\/strong><\/h5>

After the inspiring career talk, it was clear that interest in tech had been ignited. To build on the momentum, ABAN organized a 5-day intensive Web Design training<\/strong> specifically for their members. This training was carefully crafted to not just teach theory, but to provide hands-on experience that could immediately be applied in the real world.<\/p>

Each day of the program was thoughtfully structured:<\/p>

Day 1: Introduction to Web Design and Tools of the Trade<\/strong><\/h5>

Members were introduced to the basics of web design, including an overview of how websites work, essential tools, and the importance of user-centered design.<\/p>

Day 2: HTML and CSS Fundamentals<\/strong><\/h5>

Participants rolled up their sleeves and got practical with HTML and CSS, the building blocks of the web.<\/p>

Day 3: Designing Responsive Websites<\/strong><\/h5>

Understanding that modern users access websites from multiple devices, the focus was on creating mobile-friendly and responsive designs.<\/p>

Day 4: Introduction to WordPress and No-Code Tools<\/strong><\/h5>

To broaden career options, attendees explored WordPress \u2014 a powerful platform that powers a large portion of the internet \u2014 and no-code website builders.<\/p>

Day 5: Career Pathways in Web Development and Project Showcase<\/strong><\/h5>

One of the key themes throughout the training was the incredible opportunity that remote jobs offer. In a world that increasingly embraces remote work, web design and development skills open doors to freelance gigs, startup opportunities, and full-time remote roles with companies around the globe.<\/p>

Lu Abikoye<\/strong> emphasized building a strong portfolio, continuous learning, and the power of networking \u2014 practical tips that continue to guide participants on their tech journey.<\/p>
